Remembering our Friend and DH Collaborator Michael Mwemba (1980-2014)

I am shocked and deeply saddened after learning that my dear friend Michael Mwemba has passed away at the young age of 34. We instantly connected when we met almost 3 years ago at the software company we worked for. He was a fellow geek so we shared our passion for comics, TV series, movies and more.

The best thing about going to a press screening or covering an event with him for DesdeHollywood.com was that even if those were boring, laughs were guaranteed. Last year we went as members of the press to Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights and got into many mazes and attractions with ‘Front of the Line’ passes. Coincidentally it was his birthday and he said that it was one of the best celebrations he had ever experienced.

I will forever treasure that and many more little moments that sometimes we take for granted. Like when we went to the Disney D23 Expo in August, 2013. While I talked to the stars at the press line, he was inside the main arena witnessing the new footage and presentations that were showcased to fans and the media. The video below is the audio recap I asked him to record while we were driving back from Anaheim.

His smile, kindness, wittiness and talent will be missed. My condolences to his friends and relatives.
