One of the biggest box-office and critical hits of the year, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (my review here) has finally arrived on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand yesterday, September 9. The directors of that movie and the upcoming “Captain America 3,” Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, stopped by a popular store in Hollywood to greet fans and sign autographs (photo gallery here).

DH Movie News was invited to speak with the talented and very graceful filmmakers about their amazing sequel, the next installment, and much more. We shared the conversation with our friends at NukeTheFridge.com and another outlet, so we can’t take credit for some of the questions. Here are some of the most interesting highlights but watch the video below to get all the geeky details, including the possibility of some scenes being shot in IMAX.

On killing off important characters:

A.R.: If you are not afraid of something bad happening you are loosing the tension. You have to be very committed to all possibilities, including death for characters.

On keeping Cap’s film more grounded, and even “aliens-free” like the Iron-Man Trilogy:

J.R.: The grounded tone works very well for him. One of his super powers is his humanity […] When we started working in “Cap 2” we told the writers “This guy is Rocky.”

On the rumors that Chris Evans doesn’t want to keep playing this role:

A.R.: Chris has always said that he will always do Marvel movies. There was never an issue in terms of his future in the Marvel franchise. He is there and very committed to the character.

On doing a Civil War movie:

J.R.: It’s complex. There are a lot of characters. Marvel doesn’t have ownership of some of the key players in that. […] I don’t run Marvel so I can’t say that it won’t happen, but I would say that it is highly unlikely.

On the chances of seeing Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon becoming Captain America:

A.R.: In publishing you have decades of storytelling going on. The MCU is much younger […] Whether or not we get to a story bit like that is a little up in the air [The question is] how long will the movies take to get there.

One the book/set of comics chosen to be the base of “Captain America 3”:

J.R.: The great thing about publishing is that it doesn’t necessarily. You can pick and choose the mythology to create a much larger concept. Without giving too much away, it doesn’t mean that it is a single title.
