The first promotional video and poster for one of my most anticipated films of 2015 are finally here. This CRIMSON PEAK trailer presents the main character, their world and the tone in an effective way, but it lacks enough focus and impact to make it more than the sum of its parts.

The horror-fantasy film, directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver.

CRIMSON PEAK will be released in theaters on January 16.
