‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’: 5 Cool Facts Shared by Cast & Filmmakers Desde Hollywood was invited to attend the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (in theaters now, my review here) press conference that took place at the Beverly Hilton hotel a couple of weeks ago. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Anthony & Joe Russo (Directors) and Kevin Feige (Producer) talked about their experienced working in the anticipated sequel. I have put together a sample of the very interesting, insightful and funny exchange, with the top five most interesting things they shared with the media. Suit and Sweat Chris Evans: “I always feel that [the suit] gets tighter. I am supposed to be more comfortable but it gets worse. I am not joking, that really happens! They always make improvements on it. After you get your sweat going it looses up quite a bit. […] Since Marvel keeps making good movies it is exciting, humbling and an honor to be back in the suit. No matter how uncomfortable it is.” Good Sources Joe Russo: “The source material is the comic that Ed Brubaker did about The Winter Soldier. It came out in 2005, I believe. Its tone is very different from the first film. Obviously, this is called ‘The Marvel Cinematic Universe’ so it is not a direct interpretation from that: It borrows tone, characters and themes.” Natasha Shines Scarlett Johansson: “This is the first time that we’ve got to see Natasha [Romanoff]. We saw a bit of her back story in “The Avengers,” and we will see more of that in “The Avengers 2.” Here we see her getting up in the morning, going to work, and having a life after her job. She is a woman and has her own reality outside all of this. [..] She uses her feminine wiles but she doesn’t rely on her sexuality to get the job done. Natasha is extremely smart, she thinks on her feet, she is a leader and has foresight.” Reality Check Anthony Russo: “We are doing a political thriller. We used what it is happening in the world today: Preventive strikes, the President’s kill list, the Snowden thing came out after we started shooting. We tried to make the film reflective of the real world’s stakes and conditions with a fantasy expression.” Action! Keving Feige: “When we met with Joe and Anthony [Russo] it was clear that they had very lofty ambitions. They said “We want to do the best car chase in any Marvel movie, and even the best one in any movie!” and I said “That sounds good. Let’s do that!” That, and referencing the best choreographed fight scenes in the last 30 years as inspiration. And they pulled it off.” Read our exhaustive coverage of this great Marvel movie here! “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is in theaters, 3D and IMAX on April 4.
