‘Cristela’: Get Familiar with ABC’s New Hispanic Sitcom The new TV show “Cristela,” premiering October 10 on ABC, will try to connect with Latinos and the general public to become one of the few long-lived comedy series showcasing Hispanics and their culture. It definitely has the talent to be the next “George Lopez Show” or “Ugly Betty,” starting with popular comedian and co-creator Cristela Alonzo as Cristela, Carlos Ponce as Felix (watch my “Pirate Fairy” interview with him en Español here), Terri Hoyos as Natalia, Andrew Leeds as Josh, Sam McMurray as Trent, Jacob Guenther as Henry, and stand-up sensation Gabrielle Iglesias in a recurring role as Alberto (watch my “Fluffy Movie” interview with him here). Get a taste of the series watching the trailer below. “Cristela” airs on ABC, Fridays at 8:30PM, starting on October 10. “In her sixth year of law school, Cristela is finally on the brink of landing her first big (unpaid) internship at a prestigious law firm. The only problem is that her pursuit of success is more ambitious than her traditional Mexican-American family thinks is appropriate.”
