Disney Brings Another Young Director to the ‘Star Wars’ Universe What a great first movie like “Chronicle” can do to a career. Nobody has seen what Josh Trank has achieved with the new “Fantastic Four” and he already landed one of the two remaining stand-alone Star Wars films in need of a director. The other one has been secured by “Godzilla” helmer, Gareth Edwards. I love the fact that Disney/Lucasfilm is injecting young blood into the saga. Trank is just 30 years-old. Almost a decade younger than Edwards! Here are some statements via StarWars.com. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy: “We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.” Josh Trank: “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.” Here is a Star Wars related video that Trank did in his early twenties. The same date, J.J. Abrams tweeted a response to the recent “Episode VII” leaks and a confirmation that the Millennium Falcon will be in it. pic.twitter.com/wQYfaVtwFU — Bad Robot (@bad_robot) June 4, 2014
