La estrella en ascenso habló de su preparación y entrega durante las escenas de canto y baile, el trabajar junto a grandes directores y actores como Tom Hanks, su opinión sobre los premios, el cine de superhéroes y más.

Baz Luhrmann coescribe el libreto y dirige a un elenco que, además de Butler, incluye a Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr., y Kodi Smit-McPhee.
