Homefront Press Conference Interview with Jason Statham, James Franco and More Penned by action guru Sylvester Stallone the new stunt-driven manly film starring Jason Statham, ‘Homefront’ promises some serious thrills, and it also includes a particularly deranged villain played by Mr. Do-it-all-Know-it-all James Franco (seriously how does he find time to be in everything?). The movie, directed by Gary Fleder, also stars Winona Ryder and Kate Bosworth in strong female roles. Here is some of what the cast and director had to say about their new ride, which opens on November 27th. The man of the hour was Franco who said of the script “I thought it was a well-constructed movie that there was a good villain that I could have a lot of fun with.” In the film he plays Gator Bodine, a drug lord who must confront ex-DEA agent Phil Broker, played by Jason Statham. His sister Cassie is played by Kate Bosworth), “He actually loves his sister, he wants to give her everything she wants, and it kills him that the thing she wants, is what he knows is killing her. There is a more complex relationship that helps humanize this character” said the multifaceted Franco. On the female front, Bosworth mentioned that in spite of her charcter being a drug addict, she didn’t want to strip her of her dignity. On the other side, Wynona Rider’s character is equally deranged. “She used to do meth, now she was part of the operation, that’s as diabolical as it gets” said the actress. Statham, the action man par excellence, plays the father of the young newcomer Izabela Vidovic. Of his experience working with the young talent he said “We had a great time, it is actually quite sweet when you have chemistry with someone”. He also talked about the great influence Stallone has played in his career: “He’s always there putting the fear of God in me. But he’s such a prolific writer and I think it’s easy to forget how many films he’s actually written. He fills the whole story with great roles, and I think he does it very, very well.” The cast praised Statham’s physicality and his great experience in films like this: “The athletic process that he took, that was impressive to me. There’s a joy to him and an optimism that’s very important” Bosworth said. On a lighter note, Franco spoke of his multiple occupations, but intelligently dodge the question when asked if he considers himself sexy. With a star-studded, and the premise of a high-octane testosterone-infused flick with a touch of female charm, Homefront hits screens this Thanksgiving. “HOMEFRONT stars Jason Statham as former drug enforcement agent, Phil Broker, a family man who moves off the grid with his daughter, to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. However, Broker’s world soon becomes anything but quiet once he discovers that an underbelly of drugs and violence riddles the small town. Soon, a sociopathic methamphetamine kingpin, Gator Bodine (James Franco) puts Broker and his daughter in harm’s way forcing Broker back into action in order to save his family and the town.”
