Probably the biggest surprise in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY (now on digital platforms) was the participation of Darth Maul, a character that made a huge impact in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” In this film, the now cybernetically enhanced warrior -known just as “Maul”- is a shadowy presence that rules the sinister organization The Crimson Dawn.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Ray Park, returning to the role after almost two decades. In the video below, the affable actor and martial arts expert talks about his experience recording the secretive scene with Director Ron Howard, the challenge of matching Sam Witwer’s recordings (Park has never voiced the character), and his hopes for more appearances in future STAR WARS projects.

The film, also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton, Donald Glover, Warwick Davis, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Clint Howard.
