One of the most beloved and relevant stories ever told, THE COLOR PURPLE, returns to theaters in a vibrant new incarnation based on the celebrated Tony-winner stage musical, which in turn is based on the Pulitzer Alice Walker’s 1982 novel.

Following the 1985 Steven Spielberg version, this film is directed by Blitz Bazawule, a Ghanaian filmmaker and musician who gained international recognition for his feature debut “The Burial of Kojo,” and his collaboration with Beyonce in the musical film “Black is King.”
