AlanTaylor-ThorTheDarkWorld

The line that separates the science fiction and fantasy genres is usually a blurry one. But after watching promotional materials for Thor: The Dark World it was clear that Asgard was going to be a unique fusion of both. At the D23 Expo, Director Alan Taylor talked to Desde Hollywood about the challenges of keeping that balance, what Game of Thrones thought him, and why Chris Hemsworth can play a god (yes, he mistakenly refers to him as Liam).

The main cast of Thor: The Dark World features Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, and Colm Feore.

“Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.”

The super hero sequel directed by Alan Taylor hits theater November 8, 2013.
