‘Thor: The Dark World’: Mortals in Hollywood Tried to Lift the Hammer for Glory and Prizes ‘Thor: The Dark World’ arrived to theaters across the United States today, Friday. Promoting this mega release from Disney/Marvel, a very cool installation was placed on Hollywood Blvd. Visitors and locals tried to lift the super heroe’s hammer (called Mjölnir in the comics) to obtain a boost to their egos, a nice photo and a prize pack containing a “Free Loki” T-shirt, a poster and more merchandising. But only those chosen by the ancestral weapon were able to release from the ground, a la Excalibur. I did, and like Marty McFly used to say, “That was heavy!”. “Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.” ‘Thor: The Dark World’ is out in 3D November 8, 2013.
